# Auth: Jellyfin

Jellyfin is a self-hosted media server. CrossWatch connects using your server URL plus a user identity.

### What it supports

* Watchlist
* History
* Progress

{% hint style="info" %}
CrossWatch can connect using username/password to generate a token. It stores the token for API access. It does not store your password.

### Connect Jellyfin

1. Fill in your **Server URL**, **Username**, and **Password**.
2. Click **Sign In**. You should see the “Connected” banner.
3. Open **Settings** for Jellyfin.
4. Verify these values are filled:
   * **Server URL**
   * **Username**
   * **User ID** (use **Auto-Fetch** if needed)
5. Click **Save**.

### Optional: whitelisting (libraries)

If you don’t see your libraries:

1. Click **Load Libraries**.
2. Pick the libraries you want CrossWatch to use.
3. Click **Save**.

Guide: [Library Whitelisting](/crosswatch/library-whitelisting.md).

### Troubleshooting

* Make sure the **Server URL** is reachable from the CrossWatch container.
* Prefer a LAN IP over a hostname when debugging (example: `http://192.168.1.10:8096`).
* If sign-in works but libraries don’t load, check whitelisting and click **Load Libraries** again.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Power users" %}

### Config keys

Stored under:

* `jellyfin.*`

Common keys:

* `jellyfin.server` / `jellyfin.server_url`
* `jellyfin.user_id`
* `jellyfin.access_token`
